Getting to Know Chloe…

What brought on your interest in music?

I listened to a large variety of genres as a child, particularly after showing an active interest in Disney and Pixar scores from a young age.

When did you start your studies?

I began playing piano at age 4, soon to follow with the oboe at age 9, and eventually singing around age 12.

Was your family involved in music?

My parents appreciated and enthusiastically listened to a lot of music, hence my fairly diverse repertoire. They were very supportive of my being a musician and helped both me and my brother a great deal in advancing our careers. My brother plays guitar and bass.

Have you participated in any extracurricular organizations or music clubs?

So many of them that they’re hard to remember! In high school, I was in the jazz band, wind ensemble, acapella group, choir, and participated in all counties, area-all states, and all-states for various things. I was always playing music outside of school.

What are other types of instruments in your repertoire?

I play piano, oboe, and saxophone. When I play my own music with a band I usually have a keyboard player, a bassist, a drummer and myself singing.

Have you played at other venues?

I’ve played at a wide variety of venues, most recently Brooklyn Bowl singing backup with John the Martyr, a NY based soul band. Some other venues I’ve played: Newport Jazz Festival, Smalls Jazz Club (NYC), Harlem Tavern (NYC), The Bitter End (NYC), The Shrine (NYC), Hilton Millenium Hotel (NYC), Union Performing Arts Center (NJ), The NOVO (Club Nokia), Spaghettini & The Dave Koz Lounge, Capitol Studios.

Any favorite hobbies other than music?

I love drawing and visual art and am really into philosophy and space. (Nerdy, I know)
