The Montclair Music Studio is proud to introduce veteran guitar & piano instructor Ray Donato.

Mr. Donato is a multi-talented musician and composer with many years experience as both a performer and teacher.

Ray has written and arranged many guitar books over the years for companies such as Warner Brothers, Cherry Lane and Hal Leonard.

Getting to Know Ray…

What brought on your interest in music?

My interest in music was brought on by my mother and sisters playing the piano. When I was ten the Beatles came out and I became interested in the guitar!

When did you start your studies?

I started taking guitar lessons at age 10, and piano lessons from my Mother!

Was your family involved in music?

My mother was an accomplished pianist, and her sister was a concert pianist!

Have You Participated in Any Extra Curricular Organizations or music clubs?

I studied and received a BA in Music/theory/composition, and am working toward an MBA in music.

What are other types of instruments in your repertoire?

I play violin in addition to the guitar and piano.

Have you played at other venues?

While in my own rock band, Modem, I played my songs at various venues in NYC including CBGB’s!

Any favorite hobbies other than music?

I love baseball!!
